I finally got a chance to watch Sir Ken Robinson's RISD commencement address the other day. I'm glad I did. Not only was it inspiring to watch, but he's also a very funny and engaging speaker.
I thought much of his advice was particularly good for planners and strategists. A few of the points I jotted down while watching...
Challenge everything. Don't keep doing things because that's the way you've always done them. Don't accept answers at face value. Dig deeper. Look for new ways to do things. Better ways.
Cherish diversity. Diversity is the pulse of creativity, innovation and human life. You have to seek it out. Cherish your talents. Cherish other people's talents. Appreciate differences and let them help you grow and learn to think differently about things.
Make connections. That's your job. Everything connects. See relationships, not just distinctions.
Anyway, really enjoyed the talk and wanted to share.
